The Build Green Greater Columbia Program
Build Green Greater Columbia is the program of the Green Building Council of Greater Columbia.  One of the primary duties of the Green Building Council is to administer and update the program for members.  The program is based on the NAHB Model Green Home Guidelines and has been modified to reflect green construction needs for our specific climate region.
If you're looking to have your next home built green, you're in the right place.  Simply see the list of member companies on this website, contact them to see if they have any green homes in inventory or if they can help you build the home you want.  Our program is set up so that any builder can pick up the program guidelines from us and build to it.  We recommend members simply because they have access to education on the program and may have a better working knowledge of the program than non-members.  Learn how to go green and why certification is important.
Through the Build Green Greater Columbia program, the house is certified green, not the builder.  Our program is based on the National Association of Home Builders' Model Green Home Guidelines which gives you, the consumer, and the builder many options on achieving certification.  All homes must be third-party tested in order to be certified in the program and therefore must reach a minimum standard in the program.  After that, you can make the home as green as you like.
